Discovering the Gospel of Luke

Chapter 11: 14-53

1. In what ways can we be like the Pharisees and teachers of the law when it comes to our traditions and practices? Can you think of a religious tradition or practice that you may once have held that you now realize was something you did out of obligation or expectation and not because Jesus taught it? What changed your mind?

2. When Jesus said: “You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.” (see verses 41 and 42) What does this say about Jesus?

3. What do you think Jesus meant when He said: “For you remove the key to knowledge from the people.”? What is the key of knowledge? How are the experts in the law removing it? How does it prevent people from entering the kingdom of heaven? What does this say about people?
